Project Overview:

People in Australia are struggling with the cost of living, with 6.9 million people - one in 2 workers - living from pay day to pay day. One in five people are experiencing extreme effects on their mental health due to the rising cost of living, with young people in particular struggling. One reason people struggle is is a lack of financial literacy or a pervasive belief that saving is futile, given the minimal impact they perceive their savings to have.

Project Objectives:

The Joyful Savings Jar will be a tool that will incentivise and encourage good savings habits through an app that helps measure the cumulative impact of saving. Designed to make saving money fun, it uses gamification techniques to help reward good savings behaviour and build a community of like-minded people.
